Hartzler: Blue Cross Blue Shield of KC decision to pull out of Obamacare shows system is collapsing

(From Fourth District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler)

After Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City announced it will exit the Affordable Care Act exchanges, Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO) released the following statement:

“Today, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City announced they are pulling out of the Missouri ACA individual exchange by the end of the year. This is a direct result of burdensome Obamacare mandates that made it nearly impossible for insurers to provide affordable plans. Requiring certain benefits from insurers, even if they were unnecessary and unwanted, is just one example of how the law made the health insurance business extremely expensive and in the words of Blue Cross and Blue Shield, “unsustainable.” Obamacare broke the healthcare system, and state by state, the system is collapsing.

This time, Obamacare’s collapse hits home and will personally impact thousands of people across the state. I urge the Senate to pass the American Health Care Act which will remove the burdens that are forcing insurers out of the market. We need to get lower premiums, more insurers and better coverage to Missouri. Now.”

(Turner's take: Vicky Hartzler and her colleagues have had years to fix the problems with the Affordable Care Act. Instead, they demagogued it to play to their base, took one useless vote after another to repeal it, when they had every opportunity to suggest and work toward the things they claim they want.)

Harvey,

Your ill-informed ignorance is an exhibit for not utilizing your business! Understand this, the ACA is the law in our country, despite Trump doing everything he can to sabotage it. #Trumpcare has been analyzed by the non-partisan CBO as a failure which will cost 23 million Americans their healthcare. It will lower premiums because it doesn't cover pre-existing conditions, raises deductibles, and covers less illnesses. We realize you get your information from Faux News, the peddlers of the conspiracy theory that Seth Rich was killed by DNC operatives, although Police, family, and responsible adults know that it was a botched robbery attempt. Businesses are pulling their advertising on Huckleberry Hannity because of his deceit and lack of credibility in his reporting on the matter. This ignorance and yours is prima facia evidence for not doing business with such idiots.

The Republican party is a failure from the start. Once agent orange is impeached then we can try to get someone in there that is not a Russian puppet and will actually listen to the people. The people want the ACA FIXED not destroyed and replaced with tax breaks for the top 1%.
