Sen. Bill White receives MHA Health Policy Leadership Award

(From Sen. Bill White, R-Joplin)

The Missouri Hospital Association recently announced that Sen. Bill White has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 Health Policy Leadership Award. This award recognizes state officials and health care administrators who have played an important role in supporting policies that promote an effective and efficient health care system.

During the 2019 legislative session, Sen. White sponsored several important pieces of legislation that equipped Missourians with the tools and resources they need to access affordable and quality health care throughout the state. These include:

· Senate Bill 235 – Requires health insurance policies to provide coverage for hearing instruments and related services for enrollees under the age of 18;

· Senate Bill 298 – Reforms state law regarding payments for health related services;

· Senate Bill 417 – Requires the reporting of information relating to certain health care expenditures; and

· Senate Bill 435 – Modifies provisions relating to hospital infection control data reporting requirements.

“Every year in the Legislature, health care policy is one of our most challenging issues,” said Sen. White. “The goal is to ensure that all Missourians have access to quality and affordable health care treatment options, and I am honored to be a recipient of this award.”

I’m sure the fact that his wife, prominent surgeon Dr. Ellen Nichols, had ABSOLUTELY NO INFLUENCE on this choice at all!
