The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed second-degree and third-degree domestic assault charges, both felonies, against a Joplin woman who allegedly stabbed her mother with a butter knife and bit her brother multiple times Thursday.
Alyssa Canarte (DOB 1995), is being held in the Joplin City Jail with bond set at $30,000.
From the probable cause statement:
Upon arrival I observed lacerations on V1 arms, wet blood stains on his t-shirt, pants and hands.Canarte recklessly caused physical injury to V2, which is Canarte's mother, by using a butter knife in attempts to stab her in the back. Canarte cut V2's arm with a butter knife.
Canarte knowingly caused physical injury to V1, her brother, by biting him multiple times on his arms, and striking him with her hands to his abdomen.
Canarte recklessly caused physical injury to V2 by using a butter knife in attempts to stab her in the back. Canarte cut V2's arm with a butter knife causing a minor laceration.
The case was investigated by the Joplin Police Department.
