Rupp beats Davis in Second District fundraising race

The second quarter disclosure reports have been filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission and it was a hands-down win for incumbent Sen. Scott Rupp in the fundraising department.

Rupp raised $72,400 during the last three months, compared to $48,374 for challenger Rep. Cynthia Davis, R-O'Fallon, and Rupp's total does not include a $26,000 loan from his spouse.

What it does include, however, is contributions from a number of special interest PACS and five donations from registered lobbyists. The largest contributions, both $2,000, came from American Family Insurance PAC and HealthPAC, according to the report.

Mrs. Davis, in addition to the $26,000 loan, received $5,000 from Gateway Marketing, Chesterfield, and $2,100 in-kind from Highway Media, O'Fallon.

Her total included three fundraising events, according to the report. An ice cream social at the Trigg Banquet Center pulled in $2,208, while she picked up $730 from a "meet and greet" at the Sugar Creek Winery, and $1,160 from a "conservative roll call."
