Wisdom aide criticizes negative turn of Congressional race

In a news release issued today, Caleb Harris, communications director for Seventh District candidate Jeff Wisdom, criticized the recent negative turn of the race:

"This race has mostly been civil up until this point, but it is sad to see that so close to the election, some of the candidates have chosen the route of political business as usual. The people of the Seventh District expect and want our campaigns to be about ideas and substance, not rhetoric and spin."

The tone of the race has turned ugly in the last tweo weeks. Mr. Wisdom has a valid point. I think many will be surprised by how well he does on Tuesday.

I think no one will be surprised when he doesn't win..

He may or may not win himself, but he probably will determine WHO does win. I would say he's run a clean and commendable campaign. As a political novice, he's made sure the big names earned their votes!! People have taken notice of him. If he doesn't win on Tuesday, I have no doubt that we will hear from him again!! Next time, he will win!!

Wisdom was the first to go negative, releasing an attack against Senator Nodler over a missed vote at the end of a 20 hour filibuster. Nodler has been present for votes more than 99% of the time over 8 years, one of the highest voting percentages in the Senate. Goodman has been absent four times more often than Nodler yet Wisdom , who is not Nodler's constituent attacked Nodler. That was in fact the first negative attack of the campaign, for Wisdom now to criticize the negative campaigning that he himself started shows him to be a hypocrite.

You couldn't be more wrong. Wisdom simply questioned why Senator Nodler did not bother to show up or vote in the special session, which is a valid point to make. If we didn't bother to show up for a job, do you really think we would get paid or receive a promotion? Get real. Nodler showed up the first day, collected his per diem check, then left town. Wisdom ran no negative ads, and paid no money for anyone to publicize the story. The news media contacted him about the issue. He did nothing more than answer questions regarding the actions of a state senator who wants to represent the entire Seventh District. If Nodler doesn't think it's important enough to show up for this job, how can we be sure he will bother to show up in DC? That's not negative, that's just plain common sense, or not, in Nodler's case.

I agree with the previous comment. There's a big difference between going negative and holding a public official accountable. Wisdom should be commended for his press release. What people will remember is that Nodler abandoned his fellow Republicans when they could have used his help. Nodler seems to think he's above reproach!

Going negative is pointing out facts? PUHHHLEEEEASEEEE get over it Gary. Someone pointed out that you would rather be campaigning than doing your job and that's not negative...thats the truth.

Hey, folks, Goodman IS a viable candidate and he has not said one negative thing yet about his opponents despite being attacked.

Earth to 2:32:

Glue sniffers like you do not have the capacity to understand the connections of the Blunt Family/Goodman Family connections to foster the Roy Blunt organization's (Mavis Busiek, Miles Ross) ability to coordinate the AJS hit on Billy Long.

But that's O.K. since 95% of the voters in SW MO are so disconnected from reality that they do not no what they are "fed up" about.

idiot at 7:19:

Goodman's wife is a cousin of Roy's ex wife (I'm not connected to any of MY ex-wife's family, Goodman isn't either)

Ross and Goodman are long-time friends.

Mavis and Goodman have very little connection.

Also, You have zero idea what you're talking about so stop talking and save the world some time.

up yours 12:45,

The Steelman crowd is now in charge of Long's campaign.

Goodman was Chairman of the 7th District Republican Committee and Mavis Busiek's boss, idiot!

You are using only half of your brain, which is all of the brain you have.

And furthermore, your relatives do not claim to be related to you.
