Nodler, Champion return to State Senate

Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, cruised to a win over independent candidate Kim Wright, pulling down 64 percent of the vote. Some of my readers are saying that this is going to anger me, but now I won't have to worry about what to write about over the next four years.
Sen. Norma Champion, R-Springfield, withstood a stiff challenge from former State Rep. Doug Harpool. With only one precinct remaining, she has 57.2 percent of the vote.

You always seemed to have a chip on your shoulder about Nodler and now you have admitted your bias openly. He won in a landslide, can you admit you are just out of touch with the vast majority?

I have always been open and honest in my writing...and I put my name on it, whereas you just keep coming back to read more and keep on fuming. If by being biased you mean I am against elected officials who put special interests ahead of the people who elect them, then you may consider me biased. And please do not use the argument that the people voting for him means that whatever he is doing is right. Even though Nodler does not have their baggage, people also reelected Mark Foley, Bob Ney, Tom DeLay, Duke Cunningham, Bill Jefferson, Bob Griffin, etc, time after time after time. Being elected does not automatically mean a person is above criticism.

I agree with Randy. There will be worries these next years. I talked to some teachers that didn't know that Nodler supports the voucher system. That seems to be the overall problem, Nodler doesn't really talk about his views on things. The big businesses support him and isn't that a cause for concern? The vote was not a "landslide", in my opinion. Several thousand people said no to Gary and yes to Kim Wright. She asked Gary several times to discuss issues openly, and he always refused. Mr. Nodler may be celebrating a victory today, but people are watching, and thanks to Kim, are more educated in doing so.

Also, "Anonymous" or scared to put your name on your comments: Kim only started campaigning this year...with very little funding....hmmmmm.

The definition of a landslide is a spread of 10% or more. As to vouchers, I have gone back through and find no indication anywhere that Senator Nodler has ever endorsed vouchers. Another example of unsubstantiated alegations being repeated. Please produce some proof that Senator Nodler supports vouchers or stop spreading rumors.

most comments on this blog are placed without a real name attached as an example "laura", laura who?

Where did Kim stand on abortian? On Oct. 26 someone asked her on her own website and she refused to answer. Everyone knows Nodler is pro-life, pro-second ammendment, anti-tax increase, pro-business and jobs, pro-education. We know how he feals about punishment for drunk driving, he wrote the bill. where does Kim stand on any of these issues, oh thats Wright...nobody knows! That is why Nodler won in a landslide!

Doesn't say nothing about 10%.

I agree with Randy and Laura. I don't want annoying calls from "anonymous" but I'll put my name on it.

AND thanks Raymond J. for the definition of landslide. Anyone who would think this election was a landslide would be considered an idiot.

The last two comments are interesting. The common definition used by political scientists for a landslide is 10% or more. The definition provided by Raymond Jackson from Dictionary.com will work just as well. By that defintion the standard would be the Roosevelt landslide over Landon in 1936. It is obvious that Gennifer Jones is profoundly ignorant since that election was 61% for Roosevelt and 37% for Landon, that`s right children, Senator Nodler had a spread 4 percent LARGER than the Roosevelt landslide. Gennifer, anyone as ignorant as you should be careful of words like idiot!

So what is Nodler's stance on "Peeping Tom's"?

Anonymous said...

My feeling is that Nodler is probably all for peeping Tom's so long as he is one of them. Especially if big business pays him.

Anonymous, just vote WRIGHT! I can do this forever, or until Randy pulls the blog. VOTE WRIGHT!!!

We don’t know about Peeping Toms, but we do know that those that favor sodomy and baby killing supported Wright. Maybe this Wright protestor is a baby killer or a sodomite? If so you`re right to vote Wright with the other pervs. Whatever they are, the one thing that certain is they are losers.

As you said it before, Anonymous...where are the facts? Unsubstantiated "alegations" (mispelled...ALLEGATIONS)are all you are touting. I have heard Ms. Wright speak many times and she is very clear on her issues. I do not ever remember her saying that she was a baby killer or that she favored sodomy. Nodler refused to answer questions about HOME issues, issues that need to be discussed involving our COMMUNITY! Personal slams towards me are really pointless and if believing in Nodler means that I have to be cruel like you...then I will continue to VOTE WRIGHT!

I am so proud for standing up for what I believe in and who I believe in. I believe in Kim Wright and I believe in what she is trying to do for our community. As long as Kim is on the ballot, I will continue to vote Wright.
