Jasper and Newton County did their bit to keep Governor Matt Blunt's re-election bid in the black. According to the April disclosure form, filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission, Blunt received $366,175 from the two counties.
Two hundred thousand of that came from one family, a TAMKO owners David and Ethelmae Humphries each contributed $100,000.
As noted in an earlier post, Rudy Farber, Neosho, chairman of the board of Community Bank and Trust, contributed $50,000 to Blunt...a mere two weeks before the governor appointed him to the State Highway Commission.
An additional $50,000 came from Carthage-based Fortune 500 company Leggett & Platt. Empire District Electric Company kicked in with $25,000, with CEO Bill Gipson donating an additional $6,000.
