- HB 1341, which would require owners of a for-profit, privately owned swimming pool to maintain adequate liability insurance, cleared a hurdle today, receiving approval from the House Special Committee on Health Insurance.
- The bill sponsored by Rep. Marilyn Ruestman, R-Joplin, and co-sponsored by Rep. Bryan Stevenson, R-Webb City, Ed Emery, R-Lamar, Kevin Wilson, R-Neosho, and David Sater, R-Cassville, is called "Ethan's Law," and is named after six-year-old Ethan Cory, who drowned at The Swimmin' Hole in Joplin on July 17, 2007.
