Gun Owners of America to tour with Hartzler

Gun Owners of America will tour with Vicky Hartzler, the Fourth District Republican Congressional candidate, according to a news release. Incumbent Democrat Ike Skelton has branded Hartzler as being soft on gun rights:

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is proud to announce a tour of Missouri’s Fourth Congressional District with a representative from GOA in support of Republican nominee Vicky Hartzler.

The tour is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19, starting in Benton County and finishing in Laclede County Tuesday evening.

“We feel it is vital that the voters in the 4th district know Vicky is the real Gun Rights candidate in this race. She will oppose any and all gun control schemes that come to the House floor, and she will fight to remove unconstitutional gun laws on the books,” said Tim Macy, Vice-Chairman of Gun Owners of America.
“She’s proven to be an effective gun rights champion. We know she will be even more effective protecting gun rights for all Americans, while making the citizens of the 4th district proud.”

Three times in 2009, Rep. Skelton voted against amendments to repeal a gun ban in national parks, while at the same time voting to massively expand the amount of federally controlled land that would be subject to a gun ban.

In 2010, Skelton voted for a bill that would strangle the First Amendment rights of groups like Gun Owners of America. The so-called DISCLOSE Act would impose a host of new restrictions on groups like GOA, effectively limiting our ability to hold individual congressmen accountable in the weeks leading up to an election.

In her six years in the state legislature, Vicky earned an ’A’ rating on gun rights issues and the respect of gun owners throughout the Show Me State. In one vote that put principle over politics, Rep. Hartzler voted against a legislative proposal to place right-to carry to a popular vote because she believed then – and believes now – that our Second Amendment rights should not be subjected to plebiscite … just as First Amendment rights are not put to a majority vote.

John Velleco, chief lobbyist for Gun Owners of America, will join Vicky Hartzler on the district tour.

“All other issues aside, the first distinction between Vicky and Ike Skelton is the first vote of every new Congress—the vote for Speaker of the House. Democrat Ike Skelton would vote for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker; Vicky, obviously will not,” Velleco said “That first vote is a huge gun rights vote, and no matter how hard Rep. Skelton tries to hide it, the fact is a vote for a Democrat is a vote for Pelosi as Speaker.”

I hope this tour is scheduled to make a stop in California soon. Nancy Pelosi is going to have some free time on her hands.
