Tommy Sowers closed out third quarter 2010 fundraising with his strongest performance yet. Sowers reported total net contributions of $413,683, whereas Jo Ann Emerson raised $394,094. Sowers has raised more money than Emerson in three out of five quarters. 44% of Emerson’s contributions came from special interest PACs, whereas 95% of Sowers’ contributions last quarter came from individuals. Tommy Sowers commented:
“Our fundraising last quarter validates what we’re seeing on the ground, which is that voters are ready for new blood, and they’re excited about this race. When I knock on doors now, I’m often meeting voters for the second or third time. We’ve put the field army in place and we’ve got the ammunition to keep fighting. This shows where the momentum is. Congresswoman Emerson does not have the same grassroots support, and her fundraising figures demonstrate that.”
