Wow! Just wow!
This list is not comprehensive at all. There are at least three more young teachers leaving my school. I'm not sure why they aren't listed because they turned in their letters in plenty of time. I would guess they were accepted and not published? There is another flight of teachers leaving, and nothing is being done to stop them. I'm pretty sure that assessment purchased for K-12 torture treatment was a good sign that things won't be getting better soon. And what happened to Cj's salary committee that Ms. Smith was supposedly wrangling? Not a word from that effort. There's not much to stay for at this point. As usual.
You are right, but the list is not meant to be comprehensive. These are the ones that have been accepted at two recent meetings. I intend to go back through and check earlier meetings, and the list also does not include four teachers who were not offered contracts for the 2015-2016 school year.
Thanks for printing this list. Does anyone know if they are conducting exit interviews.?
I know some of the teachers listed as retired plan on continuing to teach elsewhere.
Thank you, Randy! I knew you would know there are so many more going. We can always count on you to get the truth to us.
This is such a sad listing. I look at the knowledge level of the many years of experience that is being lost at Joplin Public School. My big concern- what about the children?
Ms. Palmer at North Middle School is an amazing band teacher. She will be missed. It's so sad to see so many good teachers leaving.
why would retirements ans resignations need to be heard in a closed session?
That's an excellent point. In fact, it is only recently that these began going into closed session. In the past, they even devoted a portion of board meetings to those who were retiring, but that stopped when you had so many people who were leaving the school district. The Sunshine Law says you "may" discuss certain items in closed session. Nowhere does it say you have to, but nearly all school board attorneys are pushing to have anything that has to do with personnel, even if it is non-controversial, discussed in closed session.
And all these teachers will be replaced with brand new people with no experience. Tina Smith is screening the applications so principals do not see the ones that have experience. Is money the issue? If so, who made this decision: Huff or Smith, or both?
As a former after the Tornado Employee .. I was PUSHED OUT I was Threatened by the special services Asst if i didnt sign a Resignation letter Id not only never work for the District again id never work for any other as well... i went to the leader and was simply told i have no power over the principals they make those Decisions WHO STAYS AND WHO GOES unfortunately thats the way it works they had the secertary type up a letter for me and i signed cause i was scared i was told to go to the Mayor because im black it could have been Racial but i did not because i need employment and my children go to these schools ive been an active parent holding offices in pto and currently pta .. i continue to seek full employment with the District but Nothing has happened i get the interviews then for some reason im told someone else has gotten it hard and sad yet i continue to Keep my side of the street clean having integrity being apart someone needs to HAVE CLEAN HANDS :(
How do we get a list of all the people who have left and how many years they were in the district?
