Joplin R-8 teachers voted overwhelmingly today for the Joplin National Education Association (JNEA) to represent them in collective bargaining with district officials.
The teachers had voted earlier for collective bargaining, but the process required two votes, one for collective bargaining and the second for which teacher organization that would represent them.
One hundred ninety-four teachers voted with 143 choosing JNEA, 47 choosing the Joplin Teachers Association, which is the district chapter of the Missouri State Teachers Association, and four opting for no representation.

Oh but what will Huff say?
It's too bad there isn't a way to have both groups.
There was, but that option was rejected by NEA voters.
More J.T.A. members and independents should have taken the time to get out and vote.......numbers of voters didn't even take the time...... so you can't really say NEA voters rejected it......the ones that actually got out an voted did.....
