Staff Sergeant Robert Wise was the keynote speaker for Monday's event. He thinks younger generations are losing sight of the true meaning of Memorial Day, to the hype of three day weekends and barbecues.
"There's a place for that, but there is also a place that should be in front of that where time is taken to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. And they are the reason why we stand here today," said Staff Sgt. Robert Wise, retired U.S. Army.
Staff Sergeant Wise was deployed to Iraq three times since Operation Iraqi Freedom began.
