Sources: C. J. Huff arranged for $6,500 stipend for favored teacher
Not one teacher was seated on stage when the new Joplin High School building was dedicated October 3 and Huff was largely responsible for the departure of more than 300 teachers over a three-year period.
But not all teachers were low on the Huff totem pole. Administration sources tell the Turner Report that before Huff "retired" June 30, he arranged for one favored Joplin High School teacher to receive a $6,500 stipend to keep this teacher from taking a job in another district.
The teacher purportedly will receive the extra duty stipend to continue sponsoring a group of upperclassmen who serve as role models, mentors, and tutors for freshmen. In the past, Huff has made sure this teacher has received extra money for this group, which Huff has heavily promoted, through Bright Futures.
