A Carthage woman charged with second degree murder of her fiancee's two-year-old daughter pleaded not guilty today in Jasper County Circuit Court.
Tearra Diane Olson, 20, is also charged with felony abuse or neglect of a child in connection with the August 29 death of Emalata Hoeft.
The two-year-old was the daughter of Olson's fiancee, Albert Steven O'Conner. Olson told police that the child was crying and that, out of frustration, she hit the child's head against a hard surface three times.
