Accused Carthage child killer to be arraigned Monday

Tearra Diane Olson, 20, charged with second degree murder and felony abuse or neglect of a child in connection with the August 29 death of two-year-old Emalata Hoeft, will be arraigned 9 a.m. Monday in Jasper County Circuit Court.

Olson was bound over for trial following a hearing earlier this month.

The two-year-old was the daughter of Olson's fiancee, Albert Steven O'Conner. Olson told police that the child was crying and that, out of frustration, she hit the child's head against a hard surface three times.

O'Conner was charged with a felony endangering the welfare of a child was bound over for trial following an October 14 preliminary hearing.
