Ann Wagner: President Bush was a humble and dignified leader

(From Second District Congresswoman Ann Wagner)

President George H.W. Bush was a mentor and role model who instilled in me the qualities of strong leadership and a duty to serve others.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing and working for President Bush for a number of years, starting in 1992 as the Executive Director for the Bush/Quayle campaign in Missouri.

He was a humble and dignified leader who put his faith, family, and country above himself.

He always remembered the small gestures of kindness―a note, a call, an encouraging hug―that left such an impact on others, including me. America has lost a hero whose spirit lives on in all those he touched.

More republicans need to take note of his legacy and try and emulate his devotion to service, his country and his citizens who trusted him to do right for all of us. The existing structure is broken and needs fixing to bring about more give and take and less greed and ownership by corporations of our political system. I fear it might be too late and our country will become a republic of China or Russia. When men such as Flynn side with Russians and money then it signals a severe problem that President Bush would not find acceptable and yet our republican congress finds him to be elevated to a high and responsible office in this corrupt administration. Shame on all of you and them who were complicit.

Iran Contra. One term. Democrats say Republicans should be more like him... read a book and don't get caught up in the emotion of the moment. He was a CIA goon.
