City of Joplin to begin assessment of parks and recreation facilities

(From the City of Joplin)

Planning for the future is a key component to ensure a City parks system is positively addressing items to provide amenities for its citizens. In this effort, the Joplin Parks and Recreation has recently begun a Parks and Recreation Master Plan process to assess our current facilities and programs and engage citizens about their recreational activities and interests.

The City is working with Landworks Studio of Olathe, Kansas on this study to survey Joplin residents for their input. Surveys will be sent to a randomized number of households in Joplin city limits over the next few weeks. We encourage all who receive a survey to please complete it and return it in the postage-paid envelope provided.

Following the surveying phase, the City will host public meetings to discuss the overall Parks and Recreation system in Joplin. Please watch for more announcements from the City and Joplin Parks and Recreation about this upcoming study.

“Using citizens’ feedback, this study will help identify and prioritize park maintenance and improvements,” said City Manager Nick Edwards. “If you have a desire for better park amenities, then this is your opportunity to give us your thoughts.”
