Record highs set for COVID-19 patients at Joplin hospitals, city residents hospitalized

One day after it appeared the hospitalization rate for COVID-19 customers was heading in the right direction, the number being treated at Freeman and Mercy hospitals reached an all-time high of 89.

Statistics posted on the city's COVID-19 dashboard Monday showed 71 coronavirus patients, including 29 city residents.






 

Today's posting of 89 patients included 31 from Joplin, the largest number of city residents hospitalized to date.

Twenty-seven new COVID-19 cases were confirmed bringing the total to 1,828. The number of people under quarantine increased from 257 to 273.

Joplin has recorded 33 deaths due to COVID-19.
