Joplin records three COVID-19 deaths, 35 new cases

 

The Joplin Health Department reported three deaths due to COVID-19 today, as well as 35 new cases.

The victims, according to a department news release, were a 68-year-old man, a 68-year-old woman and a 72-year-old woman.

The 68-year-old woman had been a resident of a long-term care facility, according to the release.

The deaths put the city's toll at 31. (The number in the accompanying graph was posted on the city's COVID-19 dashboard before the announcement of the deaths.)

The 35 cases bring the city's total to 1,737.

The number of Joplin residents who are hospitalized increased from 23 to 25. The number of people in isolation is 161 up from 154 the previous day and the number under quarantine is 266 down from 301.

The number of COVID-19 patients at Freeman and Mercy hospitals, which reached an all-time high of 82 Wednesday, decreased to 78 Thursday.
