The Newton County Health Department reported three COVID-19 deaths Wednesday bringing the county's total to 30.
The victims were a woman in her 60s and two men in their 80s. All three had been hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19.
Statistics posted on the Health Department's Facebook page Thursday showed 23 newly confirmed coronavirus cases, putting the count at 2,042. Newton County passed the 2,000 mark Wednesday when 29 cases were confirmed.
The number of people who are in isolation remained at 241, while the number hospitalized increased from 10 to 12.
