Former Sen. Jeff Smith, D-St. Louis has not yet begun serving one year and one day in prison after pleading guilty to a federal obstruction charge, but he has taken care of the other part of his sentence.
A Dec. 11 filing in U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri indicates Smith paid his $40,000 fine that day.
