Little evidence of voter fraud

GOP legislators nationwide and in many states, including Sen. Delbert Scott, R-Lowry City, have foisted numerous photo ID voter proposals on us with the stated intent to make sure there is no voter fraud.
A five-year Justice Department study has shown virtually no evidence of any kind of organized voting hanky-panky:

Although Republican activists have repeatedly said fraud is so widespread that it has corrupted the political process and, possibly, cost the party election victories, about 120 people have been charged and 86 convicted as of last year.

Most of those charged have been Democrats, voting records show. Many of those charged by the Justice Department appear to have mistakenly filled out registration forms or misunderstood eligibility rules, a review of court records and interviews with prosecutors and defense lawyers show.

The Photo ID bills seem to be more in a long line of legislation designed to cure horrendous societal ills that don't even exist. Among those would be the so-called Castle Doctrine laws. Rep. Marilyn Ruestman and Sen. Jack Goodman insist there is a glaring need for this legislation because of Missourians being sued for defending themselves and their property, yet neither has cited one actual incident of this taking place. Goodman even concedes there have been no such cases in southwest Missouri.
