Trial date set in McDonald County sex cult case

A July 24 trial date has been scheduled for Paul Epling, one of the church leaders charged in the McDonald County sex cult case, following his arraignment Tuesday in McDonald County Circuit Court.
Epling, 54, is a deacon in the Grand Valley Independent Baptist Church, one of four facing charges in connection with alleged cult sex with children. Epling is charged with raping a six-year-old girl in 1978.
Other church members charged are Rev. Raymond Lambert, Lambert's wife (and Epling's sister) Patty Lambert and Epling and Mrs. Lambert's sister-in-law Laura Epling. Charges against Laura Epling's husband Tom were dismissed, due to the statute of limitations.
