Candidates offer views on handling budget deficit

Nodler- The first order of business is to reduce the tax burden on individuals and businesses. We need to grow our way out of the deficit problem. I am a supply sider. We cannot spend our way to prosperity. We have go grow our way to a balanced federal budget.

Eckersley- Take care of small business. We watched Main Street bail out Wall Street. Loosen up credit, make sure loans are available. Take care of the small business community.

Davis- Too many old people, not enough workers (He did not use those words) We need to cut our corporate tax rate and expand visas to believe talented foreigners into country.

Moon- Sunset the programs that are not operating efficiently. Examine the Federal Reserve.

Craig They keep spending money they don't have. Too many voters ask them to. Vote for a Libertarian if you are willing to give up that check. Government regulation has led to poverty, slowdown of growth.

Goodman- Cut spending and increase revenue. We need to address most pressing problem. We need to get our people back to work. Cut taxes. we right-sized the budget in the state of Missouri. That's what we have to do federally.

Wisdom- We must deal with discretionary spending. Cut ineffictive, unconstitutional agencies. Entitlements will have to be reformed.

Wardell- We've go to work out fraud, waste, and abuse.

Long- We need to change the type of people we send to Washington, D. C. We need to send businesspeople. We need to start with earmarks. We start with earmarks, cut five percent off discreationary spending.

Moore- Budget cuts alone won't do it. Tax cuts alone won't do it.
