Government: Dupont trying to coerce witnesse

The federal government filed another motion Tuesday asking a judge to have Anderson Guest House owner Robert Dupont held without bond as he awaits sentencing.

In the documents, the government says Dupont has attempted to coerce a witness in his trial since he was found guilty last week:

Earlier today, October 5, 2010, Walter Taylor, a witness for the government in the prosecution of Robert Dupont, informed Special Agent Rick McLain of the Federal Bureau of Investigation that Robert Dupont has repeatedly contacted him since the trial of this case and was actively “harassing” him. According to Mr. Taylor, the defendant has repeatedly asked him to meet with the defendant’s attorney and tell the attorney that the government coerced Mr. Taylor into making statements that implicated the defendant in the crimes charged in the indictment. The defendant has called Mr. Taylor multiple times and visited his house on at least one occasion. Mr. Taylor reported to Special Agent McLain that he told the defendant that he told the truth at trial and was not coerced by anyone. The defendant repeatedly told Mr. Taylor that he could not believe he was doing this to Laverne Dupont, the defendant’s wife and co-defendant. The defendant continues to flout the conditions of his release and is now actively harassing a witness for the government.
