Diamond Schools to dismiss early Friday for Jacee Miksell funeral

The following message to Diamond R-4 parents was posted on the district website:

Diamond R-IV School District Families,

As you may or may not be aware, our school district has experienced a death of one of our students. This has affected our school and community deeply.

With respect to the family, the Diamond R-IV School District will be having an early dismissal on Friday, January 8th so students and staff may attend funeral services later that afternoon. The early dismissal will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 8th. I apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause your family.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 417-325-5186. I know you will join us in our concern and sympathy for the family. Thank you for your understanding.

Respectfully,

Mike Mabe

Superintendent

The death referred into in Mabe's letter, was that of 15-year-old Diamond High School student Jacee Miksell, who was killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday. Miss Miksell was an honor student and played softball.

Her funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Diamond. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

I bet they will leave a seat for her when her class graduates too. Well done Diamond, well done.
