Department of Labor complaint claims Joplin business failed to pay overtime

A Department of Labor complaint filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri claims Quality Lawn Care of Joplin, owned by Justin and Misty Southard, has failed to pay overtime since October 7, 2013.

A chart filed with the complaint indicates Quality Lawn Care failed to pay $23,271.05 in overtime wages.

In the complaint, the DOL asks for the judge to award unpaid overtime compensation, an equal amount for damages, and $172.41 in interest.

A document submitted with the complaint says the Southards have already consented to the judgment.

Make a business owner pay overtime? Why, by Gawd!!! That's communist! Next thing they'll be expecting business owners to cut into their profits and help these lowly workers buy insurance or somethin! That's totally un-republican!!! Get a rope!
