Hurts Donut CEO indicates plans to remain in Joplin despite local franchise closing

The Hurts Donut franchise in Joplin closed a few days ago without notice, surprising not only Joplin residents who enjoyed the popular brand, but apparently also the company CEO

Area media outlets, including Shannon Becker's Joplin News First and the Springfield Business Journal report Hurts founder and CEO Tim Clegg indicated he plans to keep a Hurts store in Joplin.

The local store, which was located at 1602 S. Range Line, opened in 2017.

Clegg issued the following statement:

We learned yesterday, for the first time, that the Joplin Hurts Donut was closed by its local franchise owner. This location is not a corporate store and we did not have any prior warning of its closing Sunday. We are in the middle of gathering additional information, but our goal is to keep a Hurts Donut Company store in Joplin to serve our loyal customers and fans in the area. We will be releasing more details as they're available. -Tim Clegg, Founder/CEO, Hurts Donut Company
