Ace Mohr sentenced to 15 years on robbery charge

During a sentencing hearing this morning in Jasper County Circuit Court, Judge Dean Dankelson sentenced Ace Mohr, 27, Carthage, to 15 years in prison for armed robbery.

Under the terms of a plea agreement with the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office, a second felony charge of domestic assault was dismissed.

Mohr was originally scheduled to be sentenced several times earlier and on the most recent occasion, August 24, failed to show leading Dankelson to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Three days later, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office issued a news release saying Mohr had been captured hiding in the closet at his mother's home in Carthage.

Mohr pleaded guilty January 24 to a reduced charge of robbery in the second degree. He was originally charged with first degree robbery after beating a Carthage man with brass knuckles and stealing his wallet, phone and watch on October 27, 2018, according to the probable cause statement.

The domestic assault charge was in connection with an August 18, 2018 incident.

At the time the robbery and domestic assault charges were filed, Mohr was on probation following his January 16, 2018 guilty plea to two counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances, including heroin, and receiving stolen property. That plea was also the result of a deal which included dropping four other possession charges.
