No Lamar High School Football Homecoming Friday as Monett, Butler cancel after students tests positive for COVID-19

The Lamar High School Football Homecoming game against Monett scheduled for Friday was canceled after a Monett student tested positive for COVID-19.

Then the replacement game scheduled against Butler was also canceled again with COVID-19 as the culprit.

Monett Athletic Director Daryl Bradley told the Monett Times varsity and JV football games were canceled this week after contact tracing put a number of players under quarantine.

“I feel bad for the players and especially for our seniors that lose a game,” said Daryl Bradley, Monett athletic director. “But, we know that this is the right decision for the group as a whole. We don’t want to see more injuries and further threats to being able to finish the season.”
Homecoming activities have been rescheduled for Friday, October 23, when the Tigers will play host to East Newton.
