Eight Carthage R-9 students test positive for COVID-19, 207 under quarantine


Eight Carthage R-9 students tested positive for COVID-19 and another 207 were under quarantine as of Tuesday, according to statistics posted on the district's dashboard.

Five of the cases are at Carthage High School and the other three at the junior high school. The numbers were down from the previous week when 14 students were under quarantine, including 11 from the high school.

No staff members have tested positive.

Six staff members are under quarantine with two apiece at Carthage High School and Mark Twain Elementary and one apiece at Columbian Elementary and Steadley Elementary.

A total of 207 students are under quarantine with the following numbers at each building:

Carthage High School 96

Carthage Junior High School 54








Carthage Intermediate School 18

Mark Twain Elementary 12

Steadley Elementary 7

Columbian Elementary 6

Carthage Sixth Grade Center 6

Fairview Elementary 5

Early Childhood Center 3

The 207 students under quarantine is an increase from 184 the previous week and 73 the week before.
