The City of Neosho will receive a $1,824,888 Community Development Block Grant from the Missouri Department of Economic Development for Waldo Hatler retention ponds, according to a news release issued this morning. The release is printed below.The Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today it has awarded a total of more than $16 million to 15 projects through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Mitigation (MIT) Program.
“Missouri communities have endured significant challenges from severe storms in recent years,” said Governor Mike Kehoe. “The Community Development Block Grant Program is an important resource to support recovery and help ensure our communities come back even stronger. We congratulate the recipients on their awards and look forward to the positive impact these projects will have for Missourians.”
Funded projects included capacity building, street and sidewalk improvements, warning systems, and mitigation planning strategies. A full list of recipients and projects is available below.
“The Community Development Block Grant Program provides critical support for communities, including preparation for future disasters,” said Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “We’re proud to fund projects through the CDBG Program that help Missourians prosper today while building foundations for a stronger, brighter tomorrow.”
CDBG-MIT funds allow local communities impacted directly by the CDBG DR-4317 disasters to improve resilience to future disaster events. Eligible applicants were units of general local government (UGLGs) within the presidentially declared disaster counties for the 2017 storms.
