Shelly Dreyer receives $20,000 boost from Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys

What had been a close to even battle between doctors and lawyers for the soul of the 129th District has taken a decided turn in favor of the lawyers.

Joplin attorney Shelly Dreyer, who received approximately $7,000 of the $9,103 in contributions she reported for the second quarter, from lawyers, was the beneficiary of a $20,000 contribution today from Missouri Freedom, which is associated with the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.

As of June 30, Dreyer trailed her opponent in the race to succeed Speaker of the House Ron Richard, Bill White, also at attorney, by a slight margin. Missouri Ethics Commission documents indicate White had $41,525.76. Most of that money came from the medical community.

At that point, Ms. Dreyer had $37,334.19 in her account.

It would not surprise me if the next few days did not bring a similar oversized contribution from the medical community. From the tone at the Lincoln Ladies Ice Cream Social Monday night, this race is anything but a friendly one, and odds are it is going to get considerably worse over the next couple of weeks.

Wow, trial lawyers against those they sue, the doctors...

whyis she being sued by her former partner? globe report said it goes to trial soon.

Is it because she violated a partnership agreement?

Is that anything like taking an oath of office and then deciding that the oath does not matter?

How can she take an oath of office and then not be responsive to the will of the people who want additional tort reform in the area of controlling medical costs?

How can...........Oh, you get the picture. Besides, she's Marilyn's buddy so that's all that matters.

She's definitely not Marilyn's buddy. Marilyn donated $500 to her opponents campaign.

Her opponent is the establishment. She's not.

I guess we like the establishment - the folks that got us in to this economic situation we're in.

Also it's interesting White's donors are all doctors - when was he ever a doctor? He's received hardly any money from his profession - hell, he's hardly worked. His wife makes the money, and is the one that really wants to be the big shot politician.

but w/e. Lets let the establishment win again. See how that establishment will handle that billion dollar deficit we're facing. See how the guy who's never held a job could do that.

I can't believe I'm saying this: Jim West is looking like the best candidate.

If she is not Ruestman's friend, I'm leaning toward voting for her.

Whos is that goofball Richard supporting?

Richard will exhibit a degree of arrogance not seen in the Senate since the days of Dick Webster.

I'm looking forward to it. He'll give us something to talk about.

as arrogant as Gary Nodler?! :)

www.mec.mo.gov I was concerned when I saw on here that Ruestman and Richard were behind Dreyer so I went to the ethics site. I found no donation from Richard or Ruestman, so I went to Bill White's report. He is the one who got money from both. I question their connection to him... I saw that article in the Globe yesterday, how interesting that they choose to "break that story" now when it said it started in december. I am going to go by each of the candidates websites and make my decision from there. I'm a bit tired of this he said she said stuff. I will vote on issues, and who I think can do the best. Hope everyone will do the same.
