Goodman banking on late media blitz

Sen. Jack Goodman, R-Mount Vernon, spent more than $36,000 July 9 on media buys, primarily television, and still has $124,815.37 to keep his message on the air.

Goodman's Pre-Primary filing, filed today with the FEC, shows he has raised $7,639 in July, and spent $90,716.52. For the entire campaign, Goodman has raised $447,255.81 and spent $316,240.44.

The biggest contribution to Goodman's campaign in July was the in-kind donation of office space rental from Rep. Marilyn Ruestman, Joplin, according to the report. Including Mrs. Ruestman's  $1,599 contribution, Goodman received $2,279 from Jasper and Newton counties.

Among his expenditures:

-$3,243 to Grote & Associates, Columbia, fundraising services
-$1,000 to Hammond and Associates, Falls Church, Va., fundraising, consulting
-$1,250 to The Bespoke Group, Kansas City, FEC compliance service
-$6,095.13 to Thompson Communications, Marshfield, campaign signs
-$25,065.28 to Thompson Communications, advertising, media, cable, and radio buy
-$2,001.23 to Thompson Communications, advertising signage
-$6,625 to Thompson Communications, radio buys
-$6,625 to Thompson Communications, radio buys
-$29,969 to Thompson Communications, radio, TV, cable ads

That Thompson guy at 20% fee for all media is the winner in this race. Damn!

So all that Goodman momentum just ran out. A distant third in fundraising on the last report. Hmmmm what happened to all that momentum Randy was seeing, guess it was just too good to be true!
