Not much funding for challengers for Jasper County Presiding Commissioner

Campaign finance reports filed this week with the Missouri Ethics Commission indicate the three men hoping to unseat incumbent John Bartosh are trying to do so with little funding.

David Troyer, Carthage, raised $3,414 and spent $4,684.06, leaving him with $737.58 as of June 30, according to the documents. His top contributors was Energy Conservation Supply,Joplin, at $1,000. He raised $1,170 at a hog roast June 18 at Carthage Municipal Park.

Most of the money raised by James Pendergraft, Carthage, came from himself or his family, according to the report. He received $2,900 during the last three months, and spent $2,847.25, leaving him with $52.75. Out of the $2,900, $2,700 came from family sources.

No report has been posted on the Ethics Commission website for the third challenger, Jeff Hammons, Carthage. In April, he posted a limited activity report, indicating at that point he was not involved in much, if any, fundraising.

Also, no report has been posted for Bartosh, who has made a history of sending it in through the mail rather than filing electronically.
