Federal documents indicate that Seventh District Congressman Billy Long spent most of early April far away from the nation's capital and the southwest corner of Missouri.
Long's first quarter financial disclosure report. filed Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission shows his campaign committee was billed for hotel stays or meals in Las Vegas on April 2nd, 7th, 8th, and 9th, while a recent article in Roll Call magazine used federal documents showing that Long spent a week in Japan between April 11 and 18th, courtesy of a special interest, the Aspen Institute.
The FEC report shows that on April 2 Long had a $177.42 meal at Red 8 in Las Vegas, a $25.82 meal at The Drugstore and spent $260.52 at the Bellagio Hotel.
That hotel wasn't the only one Long listed that day. He is down for $1,075.21 at the Venitian Hotel, a $24.45 taxi ride, a $41.43 meal at Hudson News, and $5,300 at a third hotel, the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel.
Add to that on the same day a $110.91 meal at Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen.
Long's April 7 expenses included a $74.86 meal at the Terrace Point Cafe, a $15.10 taxi ride, $13.50 for a meal at The Drugstore, and $1.041.34 for what is listed as a "campaign event" at Southwest Steakhouse.,
The April 8 list features a $74.86 meal at the Terrace Point Cafe, while on April 9, Long spent $29.61 on a meal at the Hudson News, and $10.03 at Starbucks.
As noted in the May 15 Turner Report, Billy Long's week-long trip to Kyoto, Japan, for a conference on "America’s Rebalance toward Asia: Trade, Security and Resource Interests in the Pacific" was completely funded by the Aspen Institute, which is secretive about the special interests it represents.

How the heck do you spend 110 bucks at Popeye's fast food place? A campaign event in Las Vegas? Billy methinks you are ripping us off here in MO 7.
Kathy G.
Isn't Hudson News an airport newsstand?
You are right. Though I haven't seen many other members of Congress doing so, it appears that Congressman Long also uses campaign cash to pay for coffee.
How in the world do you spend $41.43 on a meal at Hudson News? That out to get the auctioneer a grocery bag full of jerky and energy drinks. But that's not a meal, that's buying groceries on the expense account. I call bull snort on this.
Yes Hudson News are newsstands found in airports and train stations.
Billy is literally "FED UP"
He feeds and then he feeds some more until he is completely fed up!
You people elected him twice, and I would be willing to bet that you elect him yet again in November.
Hmmmmm. $41.43 at a news stand? Playboys, Hustlers and Penthouses?
