(From Gov. Jay Nixon)
Gov. Jay Nixon Wednesday praised the confirmation of former Missouri Supreme Court Judge Ronnie White by the U.S. Senate as a federal judge for the Eastern District of Missouri. Judge White, the first African-American to sit on the state’s highest court, was confirmed today by the U.S. Senate.
Judge White served on the Missouri Supreme Court from 1995 to 2007 and then returned to private practice. Gov. Nixon said the judge’s skill and experience will ably serve citizens from the federal bench.
“During his 12 years on the Missouri Supreme Court, Judge White demonstrated the judicial wisdom and respect for the law that will be strong assets for him as a federal judge,” Gov. Nixon said. “While this confirmation is long overdue, it is still a great day for justice.”
