Missouri’s unemployment rate fell by a tenth of a point in June to 6.5 percent, according to seasonally adjusted data released by the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
Missouri’s nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 1,800 jobs in June. This follows May’s revised employment increase of 8,200 jobs, up from the 3,700 new jobs originally reported. Industries that experienced growth in June include Arts, entertainment and recreation, adding 1,800 jobs. The professional, scientific and technical services industry also gained 1,100 jobs during the month.
Over the past year, nonfarm payrolls have added 44,200 jobs.
