Strategic plan discussion on tap for Joplin R-8 Board special session

The Joplin R-8 Board of Education will begin work on a strategic plan for the district during a 6:15 p.m. special session Tuesday at the Memorial Administration Building.

Data to be used in devising the plan was presented to the Board at its December meeting.

Three goals were listed by Interim Superintendent Norm Ridder in the board documentation:

1. Readiness- Ensuring students are acadaemically and behaviorally ready for the next level of learning

2. Learner Support- Empowering learners through actions, resources, and continuous improvement.

3. Effective and Efficient- Using a fact-based, balanced approach to serve students and stakeholders' needs while eliminating waste.

The board is also scheduled to discuss a development of a superintendent systems review. By using this the board can determine if the superintendent is doing the job.

CFO Paul Barr will update the board on FEMA closeout projects.

A closed session is scheduled at 6 p.m. to discuss personnel.

More busy work from the Superintendent who talks a lot but doesn't do a lot.
