A Joplin R-8 Board of Education committee will examine what the school district is doing to combat student suicide.

A plan for suicide prevention and recognition of signs that a student may be contemplating suicide is on the agenda for the 4 p.m. Thursday meeting of the board's Safety and Security Meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Memorial Administration Building and is open to the public.
