State Board of Education set to revoke license of Springfield elementary teacher charged with prostitution

More than eight years after she was charged with prostitution, The Missouri State Board of Education will revoke the contract of a Springfield elementary teacher when it meets September 15 in Jefferson City.

Though her initial arrest, following a Springfield Police Department sting, took place February 6, 2012, it took more than seven years for Fiedler's case to finally work its way through the judicial system when she entered an Alford plea to an amended misdemeanor charge of violation of sexually oriented business requirements, received a suspended sentence, was placed on probation for two years and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and resign from Springfield Public Schools.

Documentation for the board meeting shows an agreement between Fiedler and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Missouri Attorney General's office that requires her to surrender her license.

Fiedler's crime is described in the documentation:

On February 8, 2011, Springfield Police Department's Special Investigation Unit conducted a prostitution sting by setting up a "body rub" through a Backpage.com ad.

When the undercover officer arrived at the location for a "body rub," the officer was met by a person known as "Tasha."

The undercover officer negotiated with "Tanya" for a nude massage and a handjob in exchange for cash. At the time of the interview, there was cash on a small table next to the massage table.

Fielder's husband, Mark Fiedler (M. F.) rented the rooms for the "frontal massages."

Potential clients contacted Fielder or M. F. through online Craig's List ads or Backpage ads to set up appointments.

Fiedler participated and helped in the booking of these "frontal massage" appointments.

Fiedler and M. F. received $35 for setting up each massage. The money earned by Fiedler and M. F. for arranging these appointments was left at a predetermined place and picked up at a later time.

On February 9, 2011, after an interview with police, Fiedler admitted to picking up the money that was left behind after these massages.

On or about February 6, 2012, Fiedler was charged with a Class D felony of promoting prostitution in the third degree for knowingly assisting.

News reports from the time indicated the charge for the frontal massage was $150 with Fiedler or her husband receiving $35 for arranging the activity.
