Missouri Southern sees continued overall enrollment growth

(From Missouri Southern State University)

Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) continues to see positive momentum in student enrollment, marking three consecutive semesters of enrollment growth.

According to the official university census for Fall 2025, overall enrollment at MSSU has increased by 2% compared to the previous fall. Graduate student enrollment also saw a 39% increase, a testament to the university’s new academic offerings.

University administrators note that Missouri Southern’s continued focus on student success, growth in graduate programs, and affordability may have contributed to the rise.

"We are excited to see another semester of enrollment growth at Missouri Southern,” said Dr. Shellie Hewitt, associate vice president of admissions and enrollment. “This growth reflects MSSU’s increasing attractiveness as a destination for high-quality, affordable education, expanding academic programs, and our enhanced support for student success."

MSSU also emphasizes the importance of immersive learning experiences, which are now seen across many of its degree pathways. Recently, the university celebrated a major milestone in expanding its statewide mission, encompassing immersive learning, global education, and health and life sciences. The celebration highlighted each pillar of the statewide mission, providing interactive examples to legislators and community members.
