The attorney representing former Carl Junction police officer Bradley McDaniel on a felony assault charge is asking for a bond hearing for his client.
McDaniel, 55, who allegedly attacked Joplin lawyer Terence Prigmore who was serving as a mediator during a child custody meeting, has hired Springfield lawyer Scott Pierson of Twibell Pierson Criminal Law to represent him, according to Jasper County Circuit Court online records.
In his motion, Pierson emphasized that his client, is a retired law enforcement officer with no criminal record.
From the motion:
The Defendant, Bradley McDaniel, was arrested on November 19, 2025, and is currently detained in the Jasper County Jail.Defendant is retired law enforcement, with longstanding respect for and cooperation within the criminal justice system.
The Defendant has no prior criminal history, demonstrating a commitment to abiding by the law.
The Defendant’s clean record and community stability indicate a low risk of failing to appear for court proceedings.
Setting a reasonable bond is consistent with the principles of justice and fairness, ensuring that the Defendant can continue to support his family while awaiting trial.
A reasonable bond amount will ensure the Defendant’s appearance at all future court proceedings without imposing undue financial hardship.
In light of the Defendant’s community ties and lack of prior criminal history, the Defendant respectfully requests that this Court set a bond in an amount that is fair and reasonable under the circumstances.
WHEREFORE, the Defendant respectfully prays that this Honorable Court grant this Motion to Set Bond and set a reasonable bond amount.
