Pre-trial conference held, judge denies Craig Smith's request to travel

During a pre-trial conference this morning in Jasper County Circuit Court, Judge David Mouton rejected a request by former Carl Junction R-1 music teacher Craig Smith to travel.

The request, which was opposed by Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney Theresa Kenney, would have meant loosening restrictions placed on Smith when he was released on bond.

The next hearing for Smith, who is charged with stalking and possession of child pornography, is scheduled for 9 a.m. January 26. His trial is scheduled to begin Wednesday, April 15.

Good for Judge Mouton. I hear he’s the toughest of the judges in Jasper County.

Judge Mouton is a god fearing man, which is the only thing that matters.

That's not saying much.
