The three newly approved degree programs include a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) in General Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging.
In addition, seven new certificate programs received approval: a Post-Master’s Certificate in Nursing Education; Undergraduate Certificates in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Computed Tomography (CT); as well as certificates in Ani
mal Husbandry, Entrepreneurship, and Sports Communication.
“There is a shortage in healthcare professionals in our community, and one of the contributing factors is a lack of educational programs. With new certificate programs in CT, MRI, sonography, and the MSN, we are removing those barriers. We developed these programs in collaboration with our area healthcare providers, and this will help meet not only a regional need but also statewide and national needs,” said Dr. Crystal Lemmons, dean of the College of Health, Life Sciences and Education.
MSSU plans to launch the new programs beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.
