Following a plea bargain agreement with the Cherokee County District Attorney's office, Joplin dentist John Joseph was placed on probation for 12 months today during a hearing in Cherokee County District Court.
Joseph pleaded no contest to interference with law enforcement, a lesser charge than leaving the scene of a crash. A second count, contributing to the misconduct of a youth, was dismissed.
Joseph was charged for allegedly helping hide the involvement of his son, Rocco Joseph, in the August 19, 2023 hit-and-run that claimed the life of Gary LaTurner, 60, Galena. The leaving the scene of a crash charge still stands against Rocco Joseph. The next hearing in his case is scheduled for November 24.

What a trash family, with trash prosecutors and a trash judge, they should have held the trial at the landfill so all these pieces of trash would feel at home.
Don’t forget about the victim Gary LaTurner and his family and friends.Victims getting screwed again….
Phil glades!!!!!
Could we expect anything more from Cherokee County? This has ALWAYS been how things are done there You want to get away with things, do it in Cherokee County.
John Joseph, has more charges pending, one of these days his time will run out.
Nice to grow some Cherokee County.
Cherokee County, small town idiots.
Isn't the convict locked up right how on the other drug charges?
When does the convict begin serving his probation?
In other words, can he serve his probation while he is locked up in pretrail custody?
Concurrent Sentences (Typical): In many jurisdictions, including Missouri where you are located, multiple terms of probation or a probation term and a jail/prison term run concurrently (at the same time) unless the judge specifies they should run consecutively (one after the other). This means the time you spend in jail awaiting trial for the other offense may count towards your probation period.
I think so, yes
Evil, garbage human. It’s a shame he got away like this.
I know Jay Joseph. He truly believes he is above the law, and lives as though rules do not apply to himself, or to his wife and children. He truly lacks integrity. It was extraordinarily obvious to many of us in Joplin who know Jay and Nancy Joseph that Jay would not serve any jail time.
It will be interesting to see what happens to Jay’s Fentanyl drug charges and his son’s hit and run charges. My guess - neither of them will serve one day in jail. Not all the Joseph family members are as entitled, selfish, and corrupt as Jay and Nancy Joseph.
However, this makes all the Joseph’s look bad, and ruins their good family name in Joplin.
Too bad.
This is no surprise. I was at an event a couple of months ago that Jay and his wife, Nancy, both attended. They both acted as if nothing was out of sorts. What did surprise me was, the way the so called 'elite' of the community were acting around him. They were all treating him as if nothing happened or, mattered. Yes, these people are lawyers, doctors, financial experts, etc. I have known Jay and Nancy for a long time. I have not spoken to either of them for many years, simply because I don't want to associate with those kind of people. Jay deserves prison time for what he did, that is not in question. His son deserves the same. He, too, knew right from wrong. I am just tired of people breaking the law and not having to pay the consequences.
