Koster comes to Springfield as "recovering Republican"

Dave Catanese of KY3 Blog offers thorough coverage of the visit of Sen. Chris Koster, D-Harrisonville, to Springfield Monday.
Included is Koster's responses, or non-responses to Catanese's questions concerning the senator's 2005 votes on Medicaid cuts and this segment:

"As many of you know, I come here not just as a Democrat, I come here also as a recovering Republican," Koster told the crowd of union workers and Democratic politicos.

Koster touted his support for labor unions over the year and declared that "the extreme right has turned its back on the middle class."

To close his speech, Koster quoted former NBA star Charles Barkley, who left the G.O.P. in 2006: "Yeah, I used to be a Republican, until they lost their damn minds."

If there is any doubt that Koster has burned all of his GOP bridges behind him, this should remove it.

Koster should sit in the Senate for four years and then think about running statewide. I will not support in the primary or general election someone that has a zero voting record for progressive caucus. If I did then why not support Matt Blunt. Koster voted wrong on every major issue before the general assembly since he was a Senator.
