f you have questions about Amendment 1 (commonly known as Right to Farm), on the August Missouri Ballot, you are in luck. Southwest Missouri Democrats will be sponsoring an informational forum featuring former Missouri Lt. Governor and State Representative Joe Maxwell (D). A debate on this amendment was planned, but the Sponsor of the amendment Missouri State Representative Bill Reiboldt (R), has withdrawn his participation.
Representative Reiboldt asked that this statement be released in conjunction with his withdrawal: "Missouri Farmers Care asked me to not be on the same program with Joe Maxwell because of his employment with HSUS (Humane Society of the United States). I will honor their request."

An invitation to debate Amendment One (Right to Farm) has been sent to all other local Republican State Representatives in an effort to fully inform Southwest Missouri voters about both sides of the issue.
Southwest Missouri Democrats have not come out in favor or against Amendment One and a vote is planned for July 17, 2014 at their monthly Town Hall style meeting.
This event is open to all members of the public and will take place in the Criminal Justice Auditorium at MSSU on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 1 p.m.

Important note: the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is an "animal rights" organization; as Wikipedia puts it, "The HSUS does not run local shelters or oversee local animal care and control agencies.... 1% of the group's budget goes directly to shelters." They thrive in part by cultivating confusion with organizations that directly help animals (for some examples see the criticisms section of the Wikipedia article; note also first item, which ends with their May legal loss of $15.75 million for fraudulent litigation).
At net, I don't think they have anything to contribute to this discussion.
Wow, it would have been a great discussion, but this just shows how how bad our political leaders are in this state, they want no debate. Just keep the focus on HSUS and let folks vote on emotion rather than the truths. Sorry, big corporate ag wants us uneducated, so they can make their money, at the expense of citizens, consumers, whom they call "stupid city people" who don't have a clue about farming.
