Trash talk takes center stage at Joplin City Council meeting

Trash rates for Joplin residents will decrease as of April 1, but it will be as a result of dealing with the same company that has had the city's contract for the past decade.

The City Council voted Monday night to reject Waste Corporation of Missouri's bid and return the contract to Republic. City officials had recommended the Waste Corporation of Missouri's bid, but the council rejected that recommendation after discovering the company had sent two separate bids to the city.

Under the deal with Republic, trash rates for Joplin residents will be reduced from $12.50 a month to $11.18.

Doesn't anyone read the news stories? Yes there is recycling offered. You get an F for comprehension...

Ease up 4:50am, maybe you should sleep a little later or at least drink your coffee before reading the Turner report comments, might make you a little happier, less apt to jump all over people for asking a question that wasn't mentioned in the post.

It's only been mentioned in a dozen or so articles in various places. Maybe they shouldn't ask stupid questions when the answer has been explained. Sorry I offended you for calling out someone who lives with their head in the sand.

This is 4:34. I need to ask the Comment Natzi where is the information on the Turner Report that says Republic offers a recycle option and how much does it cost? I re-checked all the stories and still only see that WCA offered a recycle option. So instead of posting as a internet hard ass, twice I must add, why don't you just provide us with the cost of Republic's cost of recycling?
